Project Headway

Project Headway - Equipping Tomorrow's Economic Leaders Today

Community Futures Wood Buffalo has partnered with Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta & NWT. We will be launching our school-based programming this fall. Our programs are meant to supplement the curriculum that students are already learning within their classroom. With the support of our dedicated business volunteers, Community Futures Wood Buffalo will offer diverse and hands-on programming that will engage students while providing education about entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness.

Programs Include:

ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS:

More Than Money (Grade 3-4)
Our Community - Needs, Jobs, Tools (Grade 3-4)
Our Country - Technology And Innovation (Grade 4-6)
Our Business World (Grade 5-6)
Stronger Together: Diversity in Action (Grade 6-8)

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS:

Dollars with Sense (Grade 7-9)
Economics for Success (Grade 8-10)
Success Skills (Grades 8-10)
Personal Finance (Grades 9-12)

Teachers:

Junior Achievement programs maximizes student potential by exposing them to real-life leaders that teach tangible and relevant lessons in order to prepare them for success in the global economy.  Our programs supplement the Alberta Program of Studies in grades 3 through 12.  They help students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to find success in their world.  Please contact Community Futures of Wood Buffalo if you would like to learn more about our programs or wish to register your school or class(es) for the upcoming school year.

Business Volunteers:

A need versus a want. How do you budget? Can you prepare for an interview? Don’t you wish that someone had taught you those things as you were growing up? Now there is someone. You. Make economic concepts relevant, fuel the entrepreneurial spirit and challenge the students to excel. Serve as a role model to help young people better understand economic concepts in order to become successful. Community Futures Wood Buffalo provides training, support and program materials to ensure volunteers have a fun and meaningful experience. Volunteer today using our online registration form.

For more information about our program options, please see the Junior Achievement programs or contact Community Futures of Wood Buffalo.
