Business coaching & training

For more than 25 years, Community Futures offices have been helping rural Albertans build successful businesses. One of the main ways we help is by providing opportunities for skills development and continuous learning. Our team of rural small business specialists have developed a broad range of business training options that enable small business owners to learn exactly what they need to know, when they need to know it. Whether you are looking for one-on-one coaching, business mentoring, training seminars, online courses or specialized workshops, we’ve got you covered.

Business counseling and advice – We provide assistance with topics such as writing a business plan, developing a business expansion strategy, securing financing and much more. We offer these services free of charge for the first four hours.

Business consulting services – We help with business projects like marketing plans, feasibility studies or investment attraction strategies for an hourly fee.

Customer Service Workshop

Each one of us serves customers, whether we realize it or not.  Maybe you are on the frontlines of a company, serving the people who buy your products or use your service.  Perhaps you’re an accountant, serving the employees by organizing payroll and keeping the operations afloat.  Or maybe you’re a company owner, serving your employees and your customers. This workshop will look at all types of customers and how we can serve them by strengthening our customer service process.

In this workshop we will explore the main reasons why a Business Plan should be prepared.

Why write a business proposal/plan?

There are many reasons why a business plan should be prepared, listed are a few:

  • Provides you with a road map in order to run your business;
  • The plan will tell you how much money you need;
  • Vital information in opening and maintaining your business.

Preparing a business plan step by step

A plan should consist of basic elements:

  • A description of the company's industry, including
  • competition;
  • How the company will be or is organized;
  • A financial plan.

Marketing Basics Workshop

Thanks to the rise of technology and social media, the world of marketing and advertising has become bigger than ever. Marketing has gone beyond the classic printed ads, billboards or even television commercials. Unfortunately, this can cause any company to become confused or even intimidated about getting their product or service out into the market. But if we can learn the right strategies with the right tools, we can break into the marketing world without fear or hesitation.

Trade Show and Market Vendor Training

Being a part of a trade show or market can be a wise investment for any company. But preparation is important because it can ‘make or break’ how well you succeed during the show. Employees must realize that they are acting as a representative for the company and should be knowledgeable of its products and services. Preparing your staff for the trade show or market is a big job, so get started early!

At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize effective ways of preparing for a trade show or market
  • Know essential points to setting up a booth
  • Know the Dos and Don’ts behaviors during the show
